Course Outline:

The course is spread over 2 full days.  Day 1 starts with a simple introduction to valuing a prospect (time value of money, NPV, EMV,  Investment Efficiency etc.).  The rest of the day is devoted to estimating volumetrics, and focuses on uncertainty, and selection of a probability distribution for each parameter.  The course covers the basic concepts covered by Rose (2001) and demonstrates how they can be improved.

Day 2 is spent mostly on risking of exploration prospects.  The course covers the basics of Rose (2001) and again shows how the concepts can be advanced.  Unconventional resources, software and corporate challenges are reviewed.  Time permitting the lectures will explain the use of Bayes’ Theorem to risk a prospect with a DHI.

The course uses Australian examples accumulated from David’s long experience of Australian exploration.
