Guest Speaker: Mr Henk van Paridon

Mr Henk van Paridon is a geophysicist with over 30 years of experience and has been working as an independent consultant for the last 20 years. He studied at the University of Adelaide and the Queensland University of Technology.

He is the principal geophysicist at Energeo Pty Ltd, a geophysical consultancy providing advice to the coal, CSG and petroleum industries. He is an expert in land seismic acquisition and interpretation with broad experience across a number of basins. He has consulted widely; from companies looking at continuous gas plays at 3000m in the southern Bowen Basin to advising on seismic methods for open cut mining.
In addition to his consulting business, Henk also provides training and mentoring services. Nearly 300 students have attended his seismic workshops over the last 6 years.

He is a former president of the Australian Society of Exploration Geophysicists and former editor of its bimonthly magazine, Preview.

Course Outline

The Instructor ?

Henk van Paridon is a consulting geophysicist with over 30 years experience in seismic surveys. He has worked for clients in the petroleum, coal and CSG industries. He understands how acquisition parameters effect interpretation results.
He has worked with 2D and 3D data and is hands on. Based in Brisbane with lots of local knowledge.


Who Should Come ?

The course is suitable for geologists & engineers in the petroleum, coal or CSG industry who need to understand seismic derived maps or who are contemplating seismic for their exploration project.
The course concentrates on the physical aspects but avoids complicated equations. It sets out to de-mystify geophysical jargon.
