Congratulations to Victoria/Tasmania branch President, Tom Bernecker (pictured above) and wife, Meredith, on the birth of their first child, Mitchell Lee. Mitchell arrived on January 23rd at 7:22am, weighing in at 3.995 kg and measuring 52.5 cm. Tom and Meredith are currently enjoying the feeling of sleep-deprivation and are amazed about Mitchell's vocal strength, which makes Jimmy Barnes sound like a tame choir boy.

Deidre Brooks (Geologist at Woodside) and her partner, Ian Watson, are the beaming proud parents of a beautiful baby girl. Sherridan Areta Watson was born on April 11th, 2001 at 5.23pm at St John of God, Subiaco. She weighed 3.445 kg (7lb 9oz).

CGG New Perth Centre Manager



Dominique Louche, Regional Manager for CGG Processing & Reservoir in Perth is taking a senior position in CGG Head Office in mid June 2001.

He will be replaced by Atle Aamodt, (aaamodt@cgg.com) as Perth Centre Manager, previously area geophysicist in CGG Perth.

It is envisaged that this will ensure a smooth transition, as Aamodt is already well known in this region and very well informed of all the CGG Perth projects. Aamodt will have the support of a technical supervisor, to be nominated shortly.

Louche said that he has enjoyed his time spent in Perth. "It was an exciting period which has seen our revenues multiply by 300% and the development of our PSDM/inversion and land activities, which are now accounting for almost 50 % of our services. I'm confident that CGG Perth has a bright future with Atle now taking charge."

New Technical Expert For Fusion



Fusion Oil and Gas Plc has recently appointed Mr Laurie Brown to the position of Technical Manager. Mr Brown joins Fusion after accu-mulating almost two decades of international in-dustry experience through positions with Woodside, where he was Mauritania Exploration Team Leader, and the BP/Statoil Alliance, where he was Deepwater Nigeria Technical Leader.

Mr Brown will be responsible for co-ordinating Fusion's exploration activities, a role where he will be able to employ his experience in deepwater exploration.

New Chief Petroleum Geologist At PIRSA
After a lengthy search, the position of Chief Petroleum Geologist Petroleum Group, at Primary Industries and Resources South Australia (PIRSA) has been filled by Dr Peter Boult.

Peter was previously employed by Origin Energy as Team Leader of the Otway Basin Team. He brings considerable expertise to PIRSA, with over 20 years experience in the petroleum industry.

Prior to working at Origin, Peter was a lecturer at the University of South Australia, where he also obtained his PhD.
